================================================================================ CODE OF CONDUCT for FIENDS.COM Last Update: June 30, 2004 ================================================================================ These rules are intended as a guideline to help build and maintain an enjoyable gaming environment. If you behave politely and responsibly, these rules will quite naturally follow. Thank you for playing at Fiends.com. I. READ HELP FILES AND FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ------------------------------------------------- Before you post anything on the forums or ask for help, please take advantage of any FAQs (frequently asked questions), fan-site links, and other help files provided. The FAQs, links, and forums are intended as a method for players to learn and share game information. II. LIMITATIONS OF STAFF ASSISTANCE ----------------------------------- Fiends.com staff will assist with most account and service problems that are submitted in the appropriate manner. The appropriate manner is to use Support Forms available from various locations around the site. These forms are found via links labeled 'Contact Support'. Due to the enormous number of players in relation to the size of the staff, frivolous requests will usually be ignored. While we won't respond to most questions about the games; once a question has been asked often enough we will add a response to it in the FAQs. Repeated requests or demands for 'freebies' will be treated as harassment. III. ULTIMATE AUTHORITY ----------------------- Fred's Friends, Inc. and Fiends.com reserves the right to refuse service to anyone. We are likely to disable accounts thar are found to be associated with harrassment, hacking, bug abuse, or other types of cheating. IV. MAINTAIN YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION ------------------------------------- We require you to enter a valid email address when you register your account. All alterations to an account will be validated by sending a notice to the currently registered email. Please keep your information current. It is not always possible for administrators to reconstruct old accounts. V. YOU ARE RESPONSIBILE FOR YOUR OWN ACCOUNT -------------------------------------------- You will be responsible for everything that happens with your account. Fiends.com does not support, recognize or condone any of the following activities: Sharing of accounts, Trading of accounts, Inheriting of accounts, Caretaking of accounts, or any other method of shared responsibility. If an email address has been changed, and the old address requests control of the hero, then the older address gets control. If a hero behaves VERY badly, then it is possible that all heros associated with the violator will be blocked. This includes alternative email addresses. DO NOT SHARE YOUR PASSWORD! The staff at Fiends.com does NOT ASK for your password. If you get an email asking for your password, IT IS NOT US. BEWARE CHEAT PROGRAMS! There have been numerous applications that promised to let you 'hack' your character for better attributes. ALL OF THESE applications were used to steal passwords and plant trojan horses. VI. DO NOT HARASS OTHER PLAYERS ------------------------------- Fiends.com discourages players from harassing each other. Harassment can occur within the games, in forums and in chat rooms. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, the following behaviours: offensive language (cursing), sexualy explicit language, frequently repeating messages (spamming), following players through in-game locations in order to continue arguing (stalking), and repeatedly sending messages to a specific player after being asked to stop. It is possible to argue and still remain polite. It is possible to taunt players and maintain a sense of fun. But please remain aware that the people you are speaking too may not think your discussion is 'fun'. If you find that you or someone else is growing angry or upset, please take a step back from the conversation. Remember this motto: 'It takes two to tangle.' Fiends.com will try to reduce harrassment by moderating forums and chat rooms. In extreme cases, accounts will be disabled. VII. DO NOT CHEAT, HACK OR CRACK -------------------------------- Fiends.com will disable accounts belonging to anyone who is found to have engaged in cheating. Cheating includes, but is not restricted to, the following behaviours: stealing passwords, spoofing the CGIs, directly accessing the CGIs, using data editors to alter your game, using macros or other automated play utilities. In general, attempts to access game information using anything but the applets and forms presented at the Fiends.com web-site will be considered cheating. VIII. REPORT GAME ERRORS, DO NOT ABUSE THEM ------------------------------------------- It is important that the staff be aware of errors in the games (aka. 'bugs'). Once we know about an error, we can go about fixing it. You can report errors in the appropriate bugs forums. If an error has damaged your game data, you can contact the staff directly and we will attempt to assist you. Please be aware that damaging bugs usually occur after an update. In this case you will be one of many players who need assistance. Please be patient as we will be working to correct the problem. DO NOT ABUSE BUGS! If we find that players have abused bugs to an unfair advantage, there can be corrective action. This will most likely be a change in the game to reverse the advantage; but excessive abuse can lead to the disabling of accounts. IX. POST IN THE APROPRIATE FORUM -------------------------------- There are numerous forums at Fiends.com. Please examined the expected content of the forum. By posting your questions and comments in the appropriate forum, you improve the value of that forum AND improve your chance of getting a useful response. X. THE GOLDEN RULE ------------------ Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. We appreciate players who share their experiences with new players. We appreciate players who find ways to make the games more fun for everyone. And finally, we appreciate players who visit our site. Thank you for playing our games. -Fred Haslam, President Fiends.com- "We Write Games That Waste Your Time" ================================================================================ END OF FILE ================================================================================
