| FAQ 1: How Do I Begin Playing Dragon Court? |
|
| FAQ 1a: How Do I Get a Name and Password? |
- From the banner to the left of the Dragon Court game look for the
section "HEROS", choose the "New Hero --Register" option. This is
near the top of the grey column on the Dragon Court Game Page.
- Read the Code of Conduct. You can either read the Code of Conduct
from the "Hero Creation Page" or it is the first link on the Grey
column under the "START".
- On the Hero Creation Page: enter a character name and an email
address. The character name must be at least four letters long,
but no longer than fifteen letters. You must enter an email address
in order to recieve a password.
common mistakes to watch for:
- HIDDEN SPACES: the computer sees everything. A name
with a hidden space before or after the name looks nearly the
same to you or I, but the computer sees _space, or space_ and
these types of names with confusing spaces are not allowed in game
as they make clones of the person who's name is "space".
Most of the time, any problems with the password or not finding
your new hero are a result of a hidden space.
- TYPOS IN EMAIL: if your email isn't entered correctly, then
we can't deliver your password information to you. Please enter your
email address carefully AND remember which email you used. This ensures
being able to do things like using the DC Utilities or updating
your email in the future.
- SPAM BLOCKING: Frequently, automated messages from Fiends.com will
be blocked by spam filters. Be sure to add 'NoReply @ (no spam) Fiends.com'
(remove the 'no spam' phrase) to your friends list or check you 'gray mail'
for messages.
- It is possible that the name will not be available. If this is
the case then you will shown a list of alternative names that are
available. Please backup to the make hero page and try again.
You may have to try a lot of names.
- Once you find an unused name, you will see a screen that says,
"You have successfully created the hero [the name you chose]
The password has been E-Mailed to [your email address.com]"
- Your password will be mailed to the address you registered and
should arrive nearly instantly.
- If you have any troubles, the Dragon Court Utilities Page
has a utility for "Lost Passwords" which can also send another
request for your missing password. If your password still doesn't
arrive there was probably something wrong with the email typed in.
| FAQ 1b: How Do I Create A Hero? |
- Follow the steps in FAQ 1a which will get you a "HERO NAME" and "PASSWORD"
which you will receive in an AUTOMAIL from Fiends.com.
- When you first enter your Name and Password into the Dragon Court game,
a knight will appear with "Enter Here" underneath. Click on the Knight.
- First, you will see the Hero Creation Screen. Here you are given twenty
(20) points that you must use for your starting attributes. You start with 4
Guts, 4 Wits, 4 Charm, and 25 marks (money). In addition, you can select
some special abilites to start with: Noble, Warrior, Trader, Mage.
- Once you have spent all twenty points, another Knight picture will appear
underlined by the words: ENTER HERE. You also have the choice to "EXIT" and
not have these choices of your "build points" save as your hero's
attributes.
- Once you click on this picture, you enter the world of Dragon Court.
| FAQ 1c: I Never Got My New Hero's Password. What Should I Do? |
- SPAM BLOCKING: Frequently, automated messages from Fiends.com will
be blocked by spam filters. Be sure to add 'NoReply @ (no spam) Fiends.com'
(remove the 'no spam' phrase) to your friends list or check you 'gray mail'
for messages.
- After you have created your New Hero, your Automail containing
your New Hero's Password should arrive almost instantly.
However, EMail can take overnight, or even a day for this "instantly".
On rare exceptions, EMail can get "lost" and take much longer, or
even delivered to wrong addresses like snail mail.
- If you are waiting for your password, perhaps the "Find Password"
Utility from the DC Utilities will get to you quicker than your
first Automail. See FAQ 1d for more on the Find Password Utility
as well as the other DC Utilities.
- If your first Password never arrives and the Lost Password Utility
doesn't arrive either, chances are there is something wrong with
your EMail entry.
- You are allowed multiple heroes and it might be a good idea to make
another hero in case something went wrong with your previous Hero.
- You can contact support regarding the lost Hero's Password, but this
could take more time than making another hero. At least if you make another
hero AND write Support, you have the option to be playing while trying
to get your first choice hero!
| FAQ 1d: What Are The Dragon Court Utilities? |
The utilities page is your friend.
With the DC Utilities you can:

- On this column you will find links for "find password" or

into town and buy equipment. Click on the picture labeled 'Town Road'.

- You can encounter several monsters in the fields.
- As a starting hero, you should restrict yourself to fighting Goblins and Rodents of Unusual Size
- You can also try trading and other tasks if you like
- Beware gypsies! If you try to trade with them, they will often trick you
and take your money. Wait until your wits are higher before trading with
them.
| FAQ 1h: How Do I Buy Equipment? |
- There are two shops with weapons, and a trade shop with adventuring gear.
Pick a shop and go in. You will see a list of equipment here. Click
on a specific item. If you want to see extra information on the item,
click on the button labeled 'Info'. Click on the button labeled 'Buy'
to trade your money for the item.

radio buttons.
| FAQ 1j: What Equipment Should I Use? |
You can buy equipment in the shops, or find equipment while questing.
You can get information about your equipment from your inventory screen.
- Click on the status bar on the bottom of your screen.
- This opens your inventory.
- Select the item you want to look at.
- Click on the 'info' button.
- Everything you know about the item will be displayed.
The information screen will display several pieces of information:
- An attack bonus (+good, -bad).

- How the item is equipped - right hand, left hand, legs, torso, head.
- The item may have other special abilities such as Lucky or Cursed.
Some items need to be identified.
- You can get things identified at the weapon shop in town.
- Bill Smith will identify items for you from his 'sell' screen.
- Bill charges $40 for this service.
- Neither Bill or Aileen will pay more than $1 for an unidentified item.
Select equipment that raises your attack, defense and skill. Sometimes
you will have to make a hard choice between raising these three attributes.
| FAQ 1k: What Should I Buy? |
When starting out you need to buy a weapon and some armor.
You don't need anything from the trade shop.
I suggest that you spend up to half your money buying a weapon. Most
players start with $25. This lets you buy a Knife for $9.
Next head for the armour smith. You should be able to buy clothes,
a buckler and sandals (they increase your combat skill).
Of course, as you get more marks - buy bigger stuff. Most of your money
will come from selling of weapons and armour that you can't use.

FAQ 1l: How Do I Get More Quests? |
Dragon Court is meant to be played over a long period of time.
A single hero will get a limited number of quests EVERY DAY!
Beginning heros will have 50 quests per day. Once you have used
those up, they won't be refreshed until the next refresh time.
The refresh time is Midnight GMT. There is a countdown clock on top
of the menu to the left of the game. This should be an accurate
indicator of when quests refresh.
The time may be modified by American Daylight Savings Time, so during
summer months the time moves backwards one hour.
You gain more quests as you gain experience levels. You get more
quests from some clan powers. Cookies and Mandrake will refresh
your quests and let you play longer.
|
FAQ 1m: That's Stupid! Why Don't You Let Me Play As Long As I Want! |
Daily Quests lets all players compete for the ranking lists from
the same challenge of chosing how to use their quests.
Daily Quests keep the playing field competitve on an equal footing
for the ranking lists since a player who can play more than everyone else,
doesn't have a huge advantage over other players without as much time
for questing.
If you want to play the game more, then make more heros. We don't
have a limit on the number of characters you can play and your heroes
can help each other.
